Chic but chill West Loop lounge lures the evolved club-goer.

By John Gerard McLaughlin

The Scene
This Fulton Market club from Jerry Kleiner (Opera, Red Light, the now-defunct Shelter) caters to an over-30 crowd that wants to go out, but not act out. Stylishly dressed guests mingle over cockails in the lofty"lobby"--a space framed by David Molinaro's towering vertical paintings of deep blues and reds--and converse to funk and house. The former meatpacking warehouse's huge steel doors have been shined up to complement the minimalist seating arrangements. Wandering will lead to three private, all-red"suites" reserved for special guests, and a Willy Wonka-like striped room with a bar.

The Draw
Prominently placed magnums of Veuve Clicquot and bottles of Milagro tequila decorate the tall metal and glass back bar and signal upscale beverage choices, like the house special"13th Floor," a mix of Belvedere citrus vodka and white cranberry and pomegranate juices. Discriminating beer drinkers will find Sapporo, Duval and Lindeman's in bottles.

Insider Tips
Guests are expected to dress for the occasion; show up at the door in sloppy sports gear, i.e. gym shoes, T-shirt, and baseball cap, and you'll likely be turned away.

The lounge offers a large menu of small plates, like smoked salmon, jumbo shrimp cocktail, seviche, sashimi tuna, and a charcuterie plate.

Aside from the bar, all of the lounge's seating arrangements are reserved. Ask a server or a host/hostess to seat your party.
